Sales and Distribution Centers
What is the procedure for Return Material Authorization (RMA)?
First contact your sales representative for preliminary troubleshooting. If the product is determined to be defective, your sales representative will provide you with an RMA number. For faster processing, please have the item's serial number as well as related sales order and invoice number information at your disposal when making your request. Once you have received an RMA number, please ship the item to:
Crystal Technology, Inc. 1040 East Meadow Circle Palo Alto, CA 94303-4230
The RMA number must be referenced on the shipment's paperwork. Shipments received without an RMA number referenced will be returned, unopened, to the sender.
Can you ship overseas?
Yes, we can ship orders to countries outside the United States but in order to process an export shipment, the purchaser is required to supply us with end user and product end use information.
Can my ordered be drop shipped?
CTI corporate policy prevents us from drop shipping any purchased product.
Acousto-Optics
Are the parts listed on your website the only devices that are available? Acousto-Optic devices listed on the website represent a sample of the products we manufacture and emphasize the various wavelengths and frequency ranges we cover. Additional standard models are available and we welcome the opportunity to discuss specific solutions that best meet your application needs.
Do I have to provide adequate cooling for an AO driver? Yes, most of our AO drivers do not include a heat dissipation mechanism. You will need to incorporate a cooling device that best fits your application demands.
What type of Crystals are used in your AO devices?
The majority of our AO devices use Tellurium Dioxide (TeO2) crystals, but we do have a selection of Crystalline Quartz and Fused Silica devices available.
How do I remove the cover on the AO devices?
Removing the device cover is not recommended and voids the warranty.
If you find it absolutely necessary to remove the cover, carefully peel off the label located on top of the unit and remove the screw located beneath. DO NOT remove the screws on the bottom of the device. Doing so may break wire bonds and/or damage the crystal.
What can I use to clean the crystal of my AO device?
A cotton swab or lint-free lens tissue lightly saturated with isopropyl alcohol or acetone may be used to clean the crystal window. Be careful not to leave fingerprints or residue on the crystal window surface for this will decrease performance.
What wavelengths do your AO devices covers? Our devices can operate from UV to Near-Infrared wavelengths.
Wafers
What types of wafers do you offer?
We offer single and double-side polish Lithium Niobate, Black Lithium Niobate (chemically reduced) and Magnesium doped Lithium Niobate wafers.
What size of wafers are available?
We offer 3" (76.2mm), 4" (100mm) and 5" (125mm) diameter wafers with various thickness dimensions available.
What are the differences between optical grade, SAW grade and refractive grade wafers?
Optical grade wafers are used for the most demanding optical applications such as high speed modulators and polarization-controlling devices. Optical material is low strain with no inclusions.
SAW grade wafers are used in non-optical applications and are the least demanding in terms of impurities and crystalline perfections.
Refractive grade wafers are used for lower demanding optical applications such as Wollaston prisms for DVD heads and blur-filters for digital still cameras. This material is ideal for uses where strain is tolerable, but inclusions are not.
How do I clean the wafers?
For cleaning the wafers, we recommend immersion in a solution of soapy water with a pH between 7.0 and 8.5 or low concentration ammonia in water, followed by hand-wiping with undenatured ethyl alcohol, or in a mixture of four parts alcohol and one part acetone. Whether using a litho-pad, lens tissue or cotton swap, hand wiping should always be performed using a continuous, straight-line motion starting from one window edge and ending at the opposite edge. This technique avoids leading and/or trailing edge stains.
Do you customize wafers?
Yes, we do customize our wafer products and welcome the opportunity to discuss with you your specific needs.
