Acousto-Optic Devices

We offer a wide range of Acousto-Optic (AO) products for use in various optical applications. Our AO modulators offer high quality, low cost performance for amplitude modulation, optical switching and frequency shifting applications. For modulation of multiple lines simultaneously, consider our multi-channel AO devises. Our models range from as little as 4 channels to as many as 36.

The AO deflector line features highly customized devices for high speed optical scanning, offering solid state agile control of the scan.

Acousto-optic tunable filters (AOTF) select narrow wavelength bands from a multitude of optical sources. The wavelength of the passband can be chosen by simply adjusting the driver frequency. These devices are ideal for spectroscopy applications and laser shows. Scanning laser microscopes utilize the devices to minimize light exposure while achieving optimal collection efficiency for the fluorescence to be imaged.

We work with various acousto-optic materials. Tellurium Dioxide (TeO2) has good diffraction efficiency and works very well at most power levels. For high speed or high resolution devices that need to handle high laser powers, fused or crystalline quartz, in some cases even sapphire are used.
